the tale of an order

Friday saw a shell seated alone by the counter-top,
Crisp and warm, he whistled away and wouldn’t stop,
Soon enough he was joined by forty-nine others,
All stacked up to form a band of brothers.

What are we waiting for, one asked.
All suspicions and doubts were cast.
Come Saturday, everything became clear,
As the shells were each adorned with great colours
for a tart order.

“Yummy and filling, and even better than the last!”;
Positive customers’ feedbacks had always been a blast.
And so a two-day love affair with fifty tarts ended in a blink,
But not before the customer requesting ten more for a picnic!
