Thanks, love! I was really scared he’d end up looking like Yoda, and I still think I could’ve done better, but most importantly, the client [and recipient] was happy with it!
I totally agree with E mister. Figurines of little boys/gals are easy. Such characters are a challenge. When I 1st made Mickey Mouse, it ended up looking like a dog! :p
Whenever I make figurines of cartoon characters, I would show it to my mom 1st and make her guess as to which cartoon character it is. If she can give a affirmative answer, Its a case of sugar-crafting gone wrong I guess! Haha
I know what you mean. The best part was when I was working on this, my 8yo niece was around (and you know how kids are super blatantly honest!), so when she immediately recognised it, I literally went ‘Phew!’ Also it helped that she said stuff like ‘Don’t make him so scary, it’s for a 2yo!’, so it really helped in moulding his features
That is Awesome!! My Twins’ B-day is on Sun and I have been a wreck trying to come up with a cake…I’m thinking Elmo..?
I dunno – very uninspired these days.
THAT is an AMAZING cake! My friend’s last name happens to be “Shreck” (granted, the spelling is a bit different), but he would enjoy this. What a great thing. I wouldn’t want to eat it! I hope that it was delicious. Thank you for sharing your photo, and have a great Wordless Wednesday.
Oh wow, there’s a real-life Shrek (of sorts )! Hehe, thanks for dropping by, Dawn. I did wonder how they were gonna eat it, but the client said the birthday boy and his brother had a hard time cutting Shrek where it would hurt the least, so I guess it’s a happy ending
your cakes looks awesome! my boyfriend’s 21st birthday is coming up in january 2011 and i was wondering if you would do a cake for him? I would appreciate it alot!

Elmo sounds exciting! I’m pretty sure they’re gonna enjoy the cake regardless of the theme

I’m not going to lie – that startled me, quite a bit. But wonderful job

Haha, it scared quite a no. of us too! We kept wondering why a 2yo kid would want Shrek, as compared to the cuter characters like Puss and Donkey
That’s really cute! I like it
Thanks, sweetie!
Amazing job! Looks just like Shrek.
SHREK! That’s just so cool!
This looks great!!! It’s a sign of true talent when you can make authentic characters such as Shrek so well!!
