A plate of warm classic homemade waffles paired with a scoop of freezer-cold chocolate fudge ice-cream, teased with a drizzle of strawberry syrup.

Classic Waffles

2 cups plain flour
1 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups warm milk
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Set aside.
  2. Preheat the waffle iron according to instructions.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, warm milk, butter and vanilla. Pour the wet mixture into the dry, and beat until well-blended.
  4. Scoop the batter into the preheated waffle iron, and cook until golden brown and crisp. Serve with your favourite toppings.
