nutella makes the world go round

If there are three things in life that I sincerely believe would bring about world peace, it would be, in random order:-

  1. chocolate
    •  Yes, I do believe that it would be nice if the world was Cadbury. But while we’re at it, let’s make the world Godiva, or Valrhona, or any other mouth-watering decadent delights you so desire.

  2. Oreo’s
    • Oreo lovers unite, I always say. Nothing seems to grab your attention like the prefixation/suffixation of Oreo in practically anything. Oreo Ice Blended Drink, Oreo Cupcakes, Oreo Muffins, Oreo Butter Cake, Oreo Agar-Agar;– and the list goes on. These tiny black-and-white bites seem to garner raves and popularity beyond, and perhaps even more than, its original form.
  3. Nutella

Yet another fascinating creation that never fails to cheer up my gloomiest of days, since I was a little girl, jumping up and down in the kitchen, all excited to go to school, would be Nutella. Back then they came as a little treat with a mini plastic spoon attached, and I would be scooping very small bits, just so that they would not finish so soon. And manymany years on, this chocolate hazelnut spread still holds a special place in the deepest of my emotive repositories.

little miss chocolate

Sometime back I bought a box of those old-school wafer roses I used to see on birthday cakes, but I never got a chance to using them until yesterday. Truth be told, I actually forgot I had them, until I finally saw the light in the depths of my pantry. [Aside: it's really about time for me to clear up the pantry, and try to subdue the impending avalanche each time I open the door.]

Since yesterday marked the last day of my superlong weekend, I decided to bake chocolate cupcakes for the lovely family, as well as for special giveaways today, i.e. to the beshtest whose transfer to my office had finally been approved, and for the mister who had relentlessly fetched me from work every day since I began.

These cupcakes were largely trial-and-error, to be honest. I made modifications on two of my oft-used chocolate cupcake recipes, resulting in a moist and not too sweet chocolate cupcake, which was perfectly paired with a chocolate fudge buttercream frosting that was so rich and addictive, I couldn’t stop myself from eating them spoonfuls off the bowl. I would’ve rolled around the kitchen floor giggling in chocodelight, had it not been in the late hours of the night. Seriously.

For you see, when the frosting is as dark as the cupcake itself, you know you’re in for a chocolatey good time ;)

Disclaimer: No non-chocoholics were harmed during the post-cupcaketasting aftermath syndrome, which included lots of incessant giggling.

flawless flourless

It’s not the first time this has happened; when I set out to bake a particular something, but end up frolicking in the delights of a different bake altogether. This time round, I stepped into the kitchen armed with two different recipes, in case I change my mind the last minute. All thanks to the mister who, as expected, when prompted the question “What shall I bake today?”, replied the nondescript “MOOTIES!!!”, I scribbled down two cookie recipes he requested for.

But as luck were to have it, within minutes I had to message the mister, “I cldnt bake you cookies, coz I ran out of flour. Sorry.” Which then led to this.
